About Diane Hoh

Diane Hoh (1937 to 2025) was an American author of young adult horror and suspense, who grew up in Warren, Pennsylvania, best known for the Nightmare Hall series of the 1990s.

She lived in Austin, Texas, for 33 years before returning to Warren in 2021. Her first book, Loving That O'Connor Boy, was published in 1985, and she went on to write 57 novels for young readers. After early teen romances such as Brian's Girl (1985) and Slow Dance (1989), she turned to horror with stand-alone thrillers including Funhouse (1990), The Invitation (1991), The Accident (1991), The Fever (1992) and The Train (1992). Nightmare Hall, a 29-book series set at a university with dark secrets, ran from 1993 to 1995, beginning with titles such as The Silent Scream and The Roommate (both 1993). She followed it with the six-book Med Center series (1996 to 1997), Prom Date (1996) and two historical novels about the sinking of the Titanic, Titanic: The Long Night and Remembering the Titanic (both 1998). Her short story "Dedicated to the One I Love" appeared in the 1991 anthology Thirteen: 13 Tales of Horror by 13 Masters of Horror. She died in Warren on 25 August 2025, aged 88.
