Values are guides, not valuations
The values on MyVolumes are estimates based on recorded sales, auction results and dealer prices for similar copies. They are there to help you understand the market. They are not formal valuations and are not advice to buy, sell or insure. A book's real value depends on its exact printing, condition and the market on the day, and can be very different from our estimate. Do not rely on our figures alone for any financial decision; for a valuable book, get a written valuation from a specialist.
Identification information
We work hard to get identification details right, publishing points of issue only when two independent sources agree, but sources can be wrong and books vary. Treat our guides as a starting point and check a valuable book carefully, or ask a specialist, before you buy or sell it.
Your account
- You must be 13 or older to create an account, and you may hold one account.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
Reviews and anything else you post
- Reviews must be about the book, written by you and honest. No links, prices, personal details, advertising, or anything abusive, unlawful or copied from elsewhere.
- Every review is checked before it appears. We may decline, edit for length or remove a review that breaks these rules.
- You keep the rights to what you write. By posting it you give us permission to show it on MyVolumes, in search results and in our structured data, with your display name.
Using the site fairly
Please do not copy the catalogue, values or guides in bulk, run automated scraping, try to get around rate limits or security, or use the site to break the law. Quoting short passages with a link back is fine.
Links to booksellers
Some links to booksellers such as AbeBooks, eBay and Amazon are affiliate links: if you buy after following one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These links never affect the values we show. Purchases are between you and the seller.
MyVolumes Pro
If you subscribe to MyVolumes Pro, the price, billing period and how to cancel are shown before you pay, and your consumer rights under UK law are not affected.
Our liability
We provide the site as it is and cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We are not liable for losses that come from relying on the values or identification information, or for losses we could not reasonably have foreseen. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes and the law
We may update these terms; the date below shows the latest version, and we will tell members by email about important changes. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
