What the desk does
We write and review the collecting guides, check every point of issue and every value against at least two independent sources, and keep the "Where these facts come from" list at the foot of each page current. Where we cannot find two sources, we say so rather than publish.
About the name
Harriet Ellis is the editorial pen name of the MyVolumes desk, not a single person's byline. We publish under one name so that readers, dealers and librarians know whom to write to about a page, and so that every claim on the site has the same standard behind it. The name carries no qualifications, memberships or history that have not been stated here, which is to say none: what stands behind it is the method on the how we check facts page.
How we work
Our method is set out in full on the methodology page: which sources we accept, how we grade condition, how values are built from recorded sales, and how a correction is handled.
