About Eos

Eos was an American science fiction and fantasy imprint, started by Avon Books in 1998 and later run by HarperCollins, which renamed it Harper Voyager from January 2011.

Avon launched Eos as an adult genre line shortly before HarperCollins bought Avon and William Morrow. After that purchase in 1999, HarperCollins folded its own science fiction imprint, HarperPrism (launched by John Silbersack in 1993, with authors such as Stephen Baxter, Terry Pratchett and Clive Barker, plus X-Files and Magic: The Gathering tie-ins), into the Avon Eos line.

Under HarperCollins, Eos published Raymond E. Feist, C. J. Cherryh and Anne McCaffrey. In November 2002 HarperCollins Children's Books announced that it would also publish crossover fantasy for young readers under the Eos name, starting with Garth Nix's Abhorsen; the programme was overseen by Elise Howard.

At Aussiecon 4 in Melbourne in September 2010, HarperCollins announced that Eos would be renamed HarperVoyager from 1 January 2011, so that the American list carried the same name as the company's Voyager imprints in Britain, Australia and New Zealand. Diana Gill, executive editor, ran the US list through the change.
