Caitlin Crews

Caitlin Crews is the main pen name of Megan Crane (born about 1973), an American romance novelist best known for her Harlequin Presents titles, many of which also came out in Britain on different dates.

Crane was born in Houston, Texas, and grew up in Ridgewood, New Jersey. She took an AB at Vassar College and then an MA and a PhD in literature at the University of York in England, and she has taught creative writing for mediabistro and at the UCLA Extension Writers' Program.

Her first Caitlin Crews novel, Pure Princess, Bartered Bride, came out in February 2010 as a Harlequin Presents title, and Majesty, Mistress... Missing Heir and Katrakis's Last Mistress followed that same year in the UK; the latter was retitled Katrakis's Sweet Prize for North America in 2011. She has kept up a heavy output of category romance since then, and the Caitlin Crews name also appears on books from St. Martin's Press. Under her own name she writes contemporary cowboy romances for Tule Publishing, beginning with Tempt Me, Cowboy (2013). She also writes as M.M. Crane for Berkley, and as Hazel Beck, a pen name she shares with Nicole Helm, for Graydon House. Across all of these names her output is put at more than 150 novels, novellas, essays and short stories.

For collectors

Her early books were released on different dates, and sometimes under different titles, in North America and the UK: Majesty, Mistress... Missing Heir reached British readers in May 2010 but North American ones only in October. Open Library holds several separate records for each of her 2010 titles, one of them dated 2009, so check the imprint, title and month of issue on each copy when building a set of her debut-year books.
