About Catherine George

Catherine George is a romance novelist who grew up in a village on the border of Wales and England and has published more than sixty novels for Mills & Boon since her first book was accepted in 1982.

Her publisher's author note says the local public library fed her reading as a child. She married an engineer who became chief engineer at a gold mine in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and they spent nine years there; that setting reappears in several of her early novels. The family later lived in Portugal, West Africa and the Middle East. It was her husband who urged her to try a novel, and after a creative writing course and a close study of Mills & Boon romances she wrote one. Romantic Times named that first book the best of its genre for the year.

Open Library records Reluctant Paragon (1982) as her earliest title. Later books it lists include Evidence of Sin, Reform of the Rake and Summer of the Storm (all 1994), A Brief Encounter and Fallen Hero (both 1995), The Courting Campaign and The Second Bride (both 1997), Sarah's Secret (2002), The Millionaire's Runaway Bride (2006) and Dante's Unexpected Legacy (2014). Open Library notes that she now lives near the Wye Valley and the River Severn.

For collectors

Reluctant Paragon (1982) is her first book and the natural starting point. Her novels were issued as Harlequin Mills & Boon paperbacks (Evidence of Sin appeared under that name in 1994), so check the publisher and date on the copyright page when identifying an early printing.
