Durjoy Datta

Durjoy Datta (born 7 February 1987) is an Indian novelist and television screenwriter. His romantic fiction for young urban readers began with Of Course I Love You! (2008), and he has also written for youth television dramas such as Sadda Haq.

Datta studied mechanical engineering at Delhi Technological University and went on to postgraduate management study. He wrote his first novel, Of Course I Love You!, with Maanvi Ahuja while still a student. Srishti Publishers brought it out in 2008, when he was 21. In 2011 he left his job as a marketing analyst to write full time and co-founded Grapevine India Publishers.

Later books include She Broke Up, I Didn't! (2010), Now That You're Rich! and If It's Not Forever, It's Not Love, then Someone Like You (2013, with Nikita Singh, Penguin India), When Only Love Remains (2014), Our Impossible Love (2016), The Girl of My Dreams (2016), Wish I Could Tell You (2019, Penguin Metro Reads) and When I Am with You (2022). Our Impossible Love won the Crossword Book Award popular choice fiction prize in 2017, and The Boy Who Loved won it in 2018. On television he wrote for Sadda Haq (2013 to 2016) and Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi (2016 to 2017). Penguin Random House India credits him with twenty-one novels and more than a thousand episodes of television.

His debut appeared from Srishti Publishers in 2008, so the original Srishti paperback is the first edition and the earliest of his books. Open Library also records a Hindi-language edition of Of Course I Love You! from 2013.
