Emily Hendrickson

Emily Hendrickson is an American author of traditional Regency romances, whose full name is Doris Emily Hendrickson. She lives in Reno, Nevada, with her husband, a retired airline pilot.

England, her favourite of the many places she has travelled, is the setting for her novels. Goodreads lists 61 distinct works under her name, among them Hidden Inheritance and The Gallant Lord Ives (both 1989), Elizabeth's Rake (1993), The Debonair Duke (1996), A Chance Encounter and The Unexpected Wife (both 1998) and Miss Timothy Perseveres (1999), as well as later titles such as The Ivory Dragon (2001) and Lord Nick's Folly (2002). Several books form family sequences, including the Dancy, Herberts, Wedding and Dane series; Elizabeth's Rake is the second Dancy novel. That book won the Romantic Times award for Best Regency of 1993, and The Debonair Duke received the Colorado Romance Writers' Award of Excellence in 1997. She has also been nominated for a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award for Regency romance. Besides her fiction she has written a Regency reference book, and several flower designs she drew for bookmarks to promote her novels have been made into rubber stamps.

For collectors

The Unexpected Wife was published by Signet in 1998 as a 224-page mass-market paperback in its Signet Regency Romance line, and Elizabeth's Rake was likewise a mass-market paperback. Many of her novels were later republished in England in hardback by Robert Hale of London, and for these editions her publisher asked her to use three names, Emily Hendrickson, Emily Johnson and Emily Harland, so the same story can appear under different bylines. Anyone building a complete run should check for the Hale hardbacks under all three names as well as the American paperbacks.
