About Emma Goldrick

Emma Goldrick was the shared pen name of an American married couple, Emma Sutcliffe Goldrick (1923-2008) and Robert N. Goldrick (1919-1996), who wrote 41 romance novels for Mills & Boon between 1983 and 1996.

Emma Elizabeth Jean Sutcliffe was born in Puerto Rico on 7 February 1923 and Robert Goldrick in Massachusetts on 22 March 1919. Robert died in New Bedford, Massachusetts, on 22 January 1996. Emma completed one last book alone, The Ninety-Day Wife (1997), in his memory, and died in Massachusetts on 20 November 2008.

Their first novel, And Blow Your House Down, was published in 1983. Open Library records Miss Mary's Devil and The Road (1984) and a busy 1985 that brought Night Bells Blooming, Over-Mountain Men, Thunder over Eden, Daughter of the Sea and Ice Lady. Later books include The Balleymore Bride, set in Massachusetts, which appeared as Harlequin Romance number 3335 in November 1994 and as Mills & Boon Romance number 4281 in May 1995.

For collectors. Their novels appeared in both the Harlequin and Mills & Boon numbered series, often months apart, so the same title can carry two different numbers and dates. Some were reissued by other firms; Open Library lists Chivers Press and Curley editions of Daughter of the Sea. Matching the series number and imprint is the simplest way to identify an early printing.
