About Jane Feather

Jane Feather (born Jane Robotham in Cairo in 1945) is a British-American author of historical romance novels, with more than ten million copies of her books in print.

She grew up in the New Forest in southern England. In 1978 she moved to New Jersey, where she worked as a psychiatric social worker, and later to Washington, D.C., where she began writing in 1981. Her first books were contemporary romances published in 1984 under the pen name Claudia Bishop. From 1986 she wrote historical romance under her own name, starting with Love's Charade and Smuggler's Lady from Zebra Books in 1986 and Reckless Seduction (1987). Through the late 1980s and early 1990s she wrote for Avon, with titles such as Silver Nights (1989) and Brazen Whispers (1990), then moved to Bantam for a run of one-word titles, among them Virtue (1993), Vixen (1994), Velvet (1994), Violet (1995), Valentine (1995) and Vice (1996). She is described as a New York Times bestselling author. Later books include The Accidental Bride and An Unsuitable Bride (2012).

For collectors

Her historical career began with Zebra titles in 1986 and 1987, and her best-known run is the Bantam "V" novels of the mid-1990s, so first printings from those imprints are the originals. In Britain, Transworld issued editions of several of the Bantam books, including Virtue and Vixen.
