About Jane Porter

Jane Porter is an American author of contemporary romance and women's fiction, born in Visalia, California, who made her first sale to Harlequin Presents in 2000 and later founded Tule Publishing.

She studied American Studies at UCLA and took a Master's in Writing at the University of San Francisco. She spent a year in Europe with her family at 13, lived in the Seattle area for 16 years and now lives in San Clemente, California. Before her first sale she won a Golden Heart award in 1998.

Her first novel, The Italian Groom, is dated 2000 by Open Library and 2001 by the Romance Wiki. Early titles, with Open Library's dates, include The Sheikh's Wife, Christos's Promise and In Dante's Debt (2001), The Secretary's Seduction and Lazaro's Revenge (2002), and The Spaniard's Passion (2003). She moved into women's fiction in 2005 with The Frog Prince; a later novel, Flirting with Forty, became a Lifetime television film starring Heather Locklear. In 2013 she founded Tule Publishing in San Clemente. Her awards include a 2014 RITA for the novella Take Me, Cowboy and a 2013 Golden Leaf for The Good Daughter. Her own site gives her output as 75 novels; Wikipedia gives more than 45 titles.

For collectors. Her early books were Harlequin Mills & Boon paperback originals. Open Library's earliest record of The Italian Groom, with Mills & Boon among its publishers, is dated 2000, a year before the North American date given by the Romance Wiki, so the British edition is likely her first appearance in print; confirm from the copyright page.
