Lisa Gardner

Lisa Gardner is an American author of suspense novels and a number one New York Times bestseller, known for her FBI Profiler and Detective D.D. Warren series. Her novels are published in 30 countries.

She grew up in Hillsboro, Oregon, and studied at the University of Pennsylvania. In the mid-1990s she worked as a research analyst in Boston. Her first books were romantic suspense novels written under the pen name Alicia Scott. Her breakout domestic thriller, The Perfect Husband, was published in 1997 and began the FBI Profiler series. The Other Daughter won the Daphne du Maurier Award in 2000.

Her later series are the Detective D.D. Warren, Tessa Leoni and Frankie Elkin novels. The Neighbor won the International Thriller Writers award for best hardcover novel and France's Grand Prix des Lectrices de Elle. Several of her books have been adapted for the screen, including The Survivors Club (television film, 2004) and Hide (2011). In 2017 the International Thriller Writers gave her their Silver Bullet Award for her charity work for animal rescue and at-risk children. She lives in New Hampshire.

For collectors, The Perfect Husband (1997) is her first thriller under her own name and the start of the FBI Profiler series. Her earlier Alicia Scott romances form a separate and less well-known part of her bibliography.
