About Lisa Kleypas

Lisa Kleypas (born 5 November 1964 in Temple, Texas) is an American author of historical and contemporary romance, known for the Wallflowers series, including Devil in Winter (2006), and the Travis novels, beginning with Sugar Daddy (2007).

Kleypas was Miss Massachusetts in 1985 and competed in the Miss America 1986 pageant. She graduated in political science from Wellesley College soon after selling her first novel, Where Passion Leads, published in 1987. She made her name with Regency and Victorian historical romance, with titles such as Dreaming of You (1994), Suddenly You (2001) and the Wallflowers quartet, which began with Secrets of a Summer Night (2005) and includes Devil in Winter (2006). The Hathaways series opened with Mine Till Midnight (2007) and includes Love in the Afternoon (2010). She won RITA Awards in 2002 and 2004.

In 2006 she moved into contemporary romance with the Texas-set Travis series, starting with Sugar Daddy (St. Martin's Press, 2007), and later wrote the Friday Harbor books; Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor became a Hallmark television film in 2012. The Ravenels series began with Cold-Hearted Rake (2015). After Devil in Disguise (2021) she took a five-year break, and Queen of Lombard Street is scheduled for 20 October 2026. Her official site says her novels have been published in 40 languages.
