Myles Munroe

Myles Munroe (1954-2014) was a Bahamian evangelical minister, author and motivational speaker who founded Bahamas Faith Ministries International in Nassau and wrote a long series of books on purpose, leadership and personal potential. He was born in Nassau on 20 April 1954 and died in a plane crash on Grand Bahama on 9 November 2014, aged 60.

Munroe studied at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, graduating in 1978, and took a master's degree in administration at the University of Tulsa in 1980. He founded Bahamas Faith Ministries International in the early 1980s and became known internationally as a preacher and conference speaker; he was appointed OBE in 1998. His books include Understanding Your Potential, which Open Library records from Destiny Image in 1991, and The Principle and Power of Kingdom Citizenship. On 9 November 2014 a Lear 36 jet carrying him, his wife Ruth and seven others from Nassau to the Global Leadership Forum he had organised in Freeport crashed on approach to Grand Bahama International Airport after hitting a crane at a shipyard; all nine on board died.
