Sally Wentworth books in order

Sally Wentworth was the pen name of Doreen Hornsblow (1936-2001), an English romance novelist from Watford who wrote about 70 novels for Mills & Boon from 1977.

Wikidata and Open Library give her birth as 17 December 1936 in Watford, Hertfordshire. She worked as an accounts clerk, began writing after attending an evening class and sold her first novel to Mills & Boon in 1977. Her earliest listed title, Island Masquerade, appeared in the Harlequin Romance line in April 1977, followed there by King of the Castle and Conflict in Paradise in 1978. The Harlequin Presents line carried 51 of her novels, from Candle in the Wind (1980) to Mission to Seduce (1999).

Most of her stories are set in Britain or in holiday destinations abroad such as Greece and the Canary Islands. In the 1990s she wrote her first linked books: a two-part story about the Barclay twins, Twin Torment and Ghost of the Past (1991), and the Ties of Passion trilogy, Francesca, Chris and Calum (1995 to 1996). She died of cancer in Hertfordshire on 30 August 2001, aged 64.

Her novels were published in Mills & Boon's category romance lines in Britain and as Harlequin Romance and Harlequin Presents titles in North America. Her debut, Island Masquerade (1977), and the linked Barclay twins and Ties of Passion books are the natural landmarks, and the series books are best kept as complete sets.
