About Sara Wood

Sara Wood (born 1941) is a British romance novelist who published 49 novels with Mills & Boon between 1986 and 2004.

Born in the south of England, she trained as a secretary and married at 21. After her first marriage ended she retrained as a teacher. According to her Wikipedia biography, a television interview with the novelist Charlotte Lamb prompted her to try romance herself. She lives in Sussex.

Her first books, Perfumes of Arabia and Passion's Daughter, were published by Mills & Boon in 1986. They reached North American readers through Harlequin the following year, Perfumes of Arabia as Harlequin Romance no. 2814 in January 1987 and Passion's Daughter as Harlequin Presents no. 981 in May 1987. Most of her later work appeared in the Presents line; Open Library dates the Mills & Boon editions of Wicked Invader and Pure Temptation to 1987 and Savage Hunger, Tender Persuasion and The Count's Vendetta to 1988, with the Harlequin Presents editions following in 1988 and 1989. Her last Harlequin title listed by the Romance Wiki, A Passionate Revenge, came out in April 2005.

For collectors. The pattern of her early books shows the usual gap between British and North American publication: Open Library records the Mills & Boon editions of her first two novels in 1986, while the numbered Harlequin editions followed in 1987. A first printing of one of her titles is therefore normally the Mills & Boon edition, which should be confirmed from the copyright page. Open Library also records large print editions from Magna and Ulverscroft. Note that her Wikipedia article carries a warning that it needs better sourcing.
