About Sarah Holland

Sarah Holland (born November 1961) is an English romance novelist, actor and editor who wrote 22 romantic novels for Harlequin between 1982 and 1998.

Born in Folkestone, Kent, she is the daughter of Sheila Holland, who wrote more than 160 novels as Charlotte Lamb, and sister of the writer Jane Holland. The Mills & Boon publishers Alan and John Boon nicknamed her "Mouton Cadet", a joke on her mother's pen name.

Her first novel, Too Hot to Handle, appeared in 1982, the same year as Tomorrow Began Yesterday, The Devil's Mistress and Deadly Angel. Later titles included Bluebeard's Bride and Outcast Lovers (both 1985), The Heat Is On (1988), Desert Destiny (1991), Last of the Great French Lovers (1992), The Dominant Male (1996) and her final novel, Red Hot Lover (1998).

At 20 she enrolled at East 15 Acting School in London; she has also used the pen name Abby Rhode. Her acting credits include Shakespeare for BBC Two's Bard on the Box (1994), a supporting role opposite Jack Palance in Treasure Island (1999) and the film Artois the Goat (2008), which she also narrated. She later moved into magazines, as publication director of At Home Magazine in London from late 2008 and editor-in-chief of La Crème Magazine from 2011.

For collectors

Holland's four 1982 titles are her earliest books and the natural starting point for anyone collecting her work, and they pair naturally with her mother's Charlotte Lamb romances, as both women were published by Mills & Boon in the same period.
