Tor published the first edition in New York in 1992. The first British edition is the Millennium edition, London, September 1992, which the Locus Index marks as the first UK edition. It appeared as a trade paperback (ISBN 1 85798 003 4, 391 pages) with a hardback (ISBN 1 85798 002 6) available alongside it; both carry the Boris Vallejo cover art used on the Tor book. Some bookseller catalogue records file the 1 85798 002 6 hardback under Tor, but the 1 85798 prefix is the one Millennium used for all its editions of the book, so go by the ISBN and the title page. Not to be confused with the Millennium mass market paperback of 1993 (579 pages, ISBN 1 85798 127 8) or the American Science Fiction Book Club hardback, whose jacket has neither price nor ISBN.
