About Frank Remkiewicz

Frank Remkiewicz (born 14 April 1939) is an American author and illustrator of children's books, best known for his drawings for Jonathan London's Froggy picture books, which began with Froggy Gets Dressed in 1992.

Born in Connecticut, he took a BPA with honours at the Art Center College of Design in 1965. He was a staff illustrator at Norcross Greeting Cards in New York from 1968 to 1973 before going freelance, and also drew single-panel cartoons for newspapers in northern California.

Alongside Froggy he illustrated Suzy Kline's Horrible Harry chapter books from Horrible Harry in Room 2-B (1988) through to Horrible Harry and the Goog (2005), and her companion Song Lee books from 1993. His other work for authors includes P. J. Petersen's I Hate Camping (1991), Bill Maynard's Incredible Ned (1997), J. Patrick Lewis's Arithme-tickle (2002) and Stuart J. Murphy's Less than Zero (2003). His own books include The Last Time I Saw Harris (1991), Greedyanna (1992), There's Only One Harris (1993) and Fiona Wraps It Up (1995). Jonathan London's Froggy series has grown to around 30 books, and his work has been translated into French, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Spanish.

For collectors: The Last Time I Saw Harris earned a New York Times Ten Best of the Season citation (1991), and I Hate Camping was a Bank Street College Children's Book of the Year. His birthplace is given as Rockville, Connecticut, in one reference and Hartford in another.
