About Titan Books
Titan Books is a London publisher founded in 1981 by Nick Landau and Vivian Cheung, whose first book collected Brian Bolland's Judge Dredd strips from 2000 AD and which now publishes graphic novels, film companion books and genre fiction.
Origins. After that first Judge Dredd trade paperback, Titan reprinted many more 2000 AD series in book form. Landau was still managing director and publisher in 2009.
Key periods. For many years Titan was the British home of licensed DC Comics material, including Batman and Vertigo's Sandman, until it dropped all DC titles in December 2018. In 1986 it published Neil Gaiman's Don't Panic, a companion to Douglas Adams's Hitchhiker's Guide, and kept it in print through revised editions in 1993, 2002 and 2009. By 2009 it was issuing 300 to 400 books a year, including companion volumes for films such as Watchmen, Terminator Salvation and Transformers, and it held the UK rights to the Watchmen graphic novel. In 2010 it bought Hard Case Crime, the American imprint of hardboiled crime fiction.
Today. Titan Books is one imprint of Titan Publishing Group, the publishing division of Titan Entertainment, alongside Titan Comics, Titan Magazines and Titan Manga, which was launched in 2022. The group is based at Bankside in London.
