About Barsoom
Barsoom is Edgar Rice Burroughs's series of eleven science fiction adventure books set on Mars, featuring John Carter. The first story was serialised as Under the Moons of Mars in The All-Story magazine in 1912 and appeared in book form as A Princess of Mars from A. C. McClurg in 1917. McClurg published the first six books; A Fighting Man of Mars came from Metropolitan in 1931, and the next three from Burroughs's own imprint. The last, John Carter of Mars, a collection of two novellas, was published by Canaveral Press in 1964. Years in the reading order are first book publication dates.
