About Otherland
Otherland is a four-volume science fiction series by the American author Tad Williams, published between 1996 and 2001. It is set in the late twenty-first century, when most people spend time on a global virtual-reality network, and centres on Otherland, a hidden simulation network commissioned by the Grail Brotherhood, a secret society of some of the richest and most powerful men and women on Earth. The sequence opened with City of Golden Shadow in 1996, continued with River of Blue Fire (1998) and Mountain of Black Glass (1999), and closed with Sea of Silver Light (2001). Williams later added short Otherland stories, including one in the 2003 anthology Legends II.
