About Patternist series
The Patternist series is a sequence of five science fiction novels by Octavia E. Butler, published between 1976 and 1984. Doubleday published the first book, Patternmaster, in July 1976, although it comes last in the internal chronology. Butler came to dislike Survivor (1978) and refused to let it be reprinted, so the posthumous 2007 omnibus Seed to Harvest collects only the other four.
