About Kevin J. Anderson

Kevin J. Anderson (born 27 March 1962) is an American science fiction author, best known for the Dune prequels he writes with Brian Herbert and for his Star Wars novels of the 1990s.

Born in Racine, Wisconsin, Anderson took a degree in physics and astronomy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1981 and worked for 12 years at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he met his wife and frequent co-author Rebecca Moesta and his collaborator Doug Beason. His first novel, Resurrection, Inc. (1988), was a Bram Stoker Award nominee, and Assemblers of Infinity (1993, with Beason) was nominated for the Nebula and Locus awards.

In the Star Wars expanded universe he wrote the Jedi Academy trilogy (1994) and Darksaber (1996), and with Moesta the 14 Young Jedi Knights books (1995 to 1998). He also wrote X-Files novels, beginning with Ground Zero (1995). In 1997 he and Brian Herbert signed a reported $3 million deal with Bantam for prequels to Frank Herbert's Dune; Dune: House Atreides appeared in 1999 and the prequel series has grown to ten novels, alongside Hunters of Dune (2006) and Sandworms of Dune (2007). His own space opera, The Saga of Seven Suns, ran to seven novels between 2002 and 2008. He has published more than 140 books.

For collectors

Dune: House Atreides was first published by Bantam in 1999 and entered The New York Times bestseller list at number 13. It is the first book of the Prelude to Dune trilogy, and so of the whole prequel sequence he has written with Brian Herbert.
