Mary Wibberley books in order

Mary Wibberley (c. 1934-2013) was an English romance novelist who wrote for Mills & Boon from 1973, beginning with Black Niall.

She was born in Worsley, England, around 1934, and died on 29 December 2013, aged 79, after a short illness. Her first novel, Black Niall, was published by Mills & Boon in 1973 and as Harlequin Romance no. 1717 in September that year. Several more Mills & Boon titles followed in the same year, including Man at La Valaise, Master of Saramanca, Laird of Gaela and Beloved Enemy, and Logan's Island appeared as Harlequin Romance no. 1827 in 1974. Accounts of her total output differ: her Wikipedia biography gives 48 novels, all for Mills & Boon, while the Romance Wiki lists 39 North American editions, 31 in Harlequin Romance and eight in Harlequin Presents.

She also wrote a practical guide for aspiring authors, To Writers With Love: On Writing Romantic Novels.

For collectors. Black Niall (Mills & Boon, 1973) is her first book and the natural starting point. Her guide To Writers With Love is a different kind of book from the novels and worth seeking alongside them. As with other Mills & Boon writers, many of her novels were reprinted by Harlequin and in large print by Chivers, so check the imprint and date when identifying an early printing.
