About Sophie Weston
Sophie Weston is the main pen name of Jenny Haddon, a British romance novelist born in London in 1933 who has written over 45 novels for Mills & Boon since the mid 1970s.
Haddon read English Language and Literature at university and later worked as a consultant at the Bank of England. Her Goodreads profile adds that she once edited press releases for a Latin American embassy in London and lectured in the Arabian Gulf. She has also published as Sophie Page. She served on the committee of the Romantic Novelists' Association and was its chair from 2005 to 2007.
Her first listed novel, Beware the Huntsman, came out in 1975, and Open Library records Mills & Boon editions of Goblin Court (1976), Unexpected Hazard (1978), An Undefended City (1979), Tomorrow Starts at Midnight (1980) and The Loving Persuader (1982). Later titles include The Wedding Effect (1995), The Sheikh's Bride (2000), The Englishman's Bride (2001) and In the Arms of the Sheikh (2005).
For collectors. Her books were issued as paperback originals, typically by Mills & Boon in London with parallel Harlequin editions for North America, and some, such as An Undefended City, were reissued in large print by Ulverscroft. Sources disagree on when some titles first appeared: Wikipedia dates Wife to Charles to 1977, while Open Library's earliest record is 1978. Collectors should check the imprint and date on the copyright page of each copy rather than trusting a listing.
