First published in the United States by the Donning Company in 1978. The first British edition is the Legend paperback, ISBN 0 09 962750 7, about 200 pages, with cover art by Fangorn. The copyright page of the 1990 reprint records Donning 1978, an Ace edition of 1984, first British publication by Legend in 1989 and then 'Reprinted 1990 (twice)', so a copy dated 1989 with no reprint line should be the first printing. Locus lists the book as arriving in December 1988, though the edition is dated 1989. The 1990 reprints keep the same ISBN, so check the copyright page rather than the barcode.
