The book first appeared from the Museum of Modern Art, New York, to accompany its exhibition of 9 November 1964 to 7 February 1965. The first British edition is from Academy Editions, London, which only began publishing in the late 1960s and took the title on after 1971; the British Library dates its copy 1973 (ISBN 0 902620 73 8, hardback, with a paperback issue under 0 902620 78 9). Library records dating Academy copies [1964] are reading the copyright date: the ISBN alone shows the issue is much later. Academy reprinted the book, and a fourth printing is dated 1977, so check the verso for a printing statement.
