Quick answer

Identification

How to identify this edition

Baynton could not find a Sydney publisher, so Bush Studies was first published in London by Duckworth & Co. in 1902. This is the true first edition: 155 pages containing six stories ('A Dreamer', 'Squeaker's Mate', 'Scrammy 'And', 'Billy Skywonkie', 'Bush Church' and 'The Chosen Vessel'). The earliest Australian edition in UK library records is Angus & Robertson, Sydney, 1965, with a memoir by H. B. Gullett, so a Duckworth copy dated 1902 is the first. In 1917 Duckworth issued the stories with two additions as Cobbers, which is a different book.
