This is the true first edition. After serialisation in New Worlds from July to October 1967, the novel was first published in book form by Rupert Hart-Davis in London in 1968, 177 pages, ISBN 0 246 97352 8, a year ahead of the Doubleday edition from Garden City, New York (1969). Check for the Hart-Davis imprint on the title page.
