Desert Solitaire was first published by McGraw-Hill, New York, 1968, with drawings by Peter Parnall. The earliest British edition found is the Robin Clark paperback of 1992 (London), subtitled A Season in the Wilderness, ISBN 0 86072 142 6, xiv, 269 pages, keeping the Parnall drawings. No earlier British issue appears in the national bibliography (to 2018) or Open Library. Collectors after a true first want the 1968 McGraw-Hill hardback; the Robin Clark is the first British edition only.
