Heisenberg's memoir first appeared in German in 1969 as Der Teil und das Ganze. Arnold J. Pomerans's English translation came out in 1971 both in New York from Harper & Row and in London from Allen & Unwin; the London book is the first UK edition, ISBN 0049250086, catalogued at viii, 256 pages and numbered 23 in the World Perspectives series. Harper & Row copies, which UK records list as a stated first edition, are the American issue. The 1972 Harper Torchbook is a US paperback reprint. A later Allen & Unwin issue carries ISBN 0049250205 and is not the 1971 first.
