The first edition is the Collins (HarperCollins Children's Books) hardback of 2003, ISBN 0-00-715006-7 / 978-0-00-715006-9. The British National Bibliography records it at 184 pages, while Open Library and AbeBooks give 192. Wikipedia states that the first publication was this hardback and that the first paperback followed in 2004, so any paperback is later. Check that the copyright page and jacket carry the 2003 hardback ISBN and that the copyright page shows a first impression.
