Ready Player One was first published in the United States by Crown on 16 August 2011, in hardback (ISBN 9780307887436), at 374 pages. The first British edition came from Century, London, in 2011 as a trade paperback, ISBN 9781846059377, 374 pages and 23 cm tall per the UK library record. An ABAA dealer confirms the first UK edition was a trade paperback, so a 2011 Century 'hardback first' is a misdescription; the Crown hardback is the jacketed true first. The ISBN did not change between Century printings, so check the copyright page for the first printing and look for an unclipped cover. A UK ABA dealer prices a first printing of the Century paperback at several hundred pounds and calls it scarce.
