The first issue is not a bound book. Scouting for Boys came out in six fortnightly parts in paper wrappers from January to March 1908, each of about 70 pages and priced 4d. net, printed and issued by Horace Cox for C. Arthur Pearson; Part I began at p. 3. Baden-Powell wrote and illustrated the text. A full run of the six parts in their original wrappers is the true first and is very rarely seen. Single-volume copies with a Horace Cox imprint and a 1908 copyright date are also offered as first printings.
