The true first is the Macmillan edition published in New York in February 1908, 354 pages; copies carry a joint New York and London Macmillan imprint dated 1908, c1907, but this is the American first, not a separate British edition. The first edition from a British publisher is Everett & Co., London. Everett copies carry no date, so libraries date them by inference: an Oxford record gives [1908], the Toronto copy scanned by the Internet Archive is catalogued as [1908], and a record held by Cambridge, Glasgow, UCL and the National Library of Scotland gives [1912?] for an Everett & Co. Ltd. issue. The Toronto copy is in the Everett's Library series, 287 pages with a frontispiece. Look for the Everett imprint on the title page; copies with 'Ltd.' in the imprint may be later.
