About Blue Sky Press
The Blue Sky Press is a children's book imprint of Scholastic Inc., led by editor-in-chief Bonnie Verburg and best known for David Shannon's Caldecott Honor picture book No, David! (1998).
Books. No, David!, written and illustrated by Shannon, appeared under the Blue Sky Press imprint on 1 September 1998. It was named a Caldecott Honor Book in 1999, a New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book in 1998 and an ALA Notable Children's Book. Verburg also edited Virginia Hamilton, whose official site describes her as Blue Sky's editor-in-chief.
A namesake. The Scholastic imprint should not be confused with the earlier Blue Sky Press of Chicago, a private press founded in 1899 and dissolved in 1907, examples of whose printing are held by Brigham Young University's Harold B. Lee Library. Catalogue records that give Blue Sky Press a founding date of 1899 or a Chicago address are describing that older press, not the Scholastic imprint.
