About Bradbury Press

Bradbury Press was a New York children's publisher that first published several award-winning American books for young readers in the 1970s and 1980s, most famously Judy Blume's Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. (1970).

Bradbury was Blume's early publisher: it issued Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret. in 1970 and her novel Tiger Eyes in 1981. Its list won major awards. Paula Fox's The Slave Dancer (October 1973) won the 1974 Newbery Medal; Paul Goble's The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses (1978) won the 1979 Caldecott Medal; and Gary Paulsen's Dogsong (April 1985) was a 1986 Newbery Honor book.

In 1981 Bradbury was bought by Macmillan Inc., whose remaining business was sold to Simon & Schuster in 1994. By 1993 The Girl Who Loved Wild Horses was being published under the Simon & Schuster name, so copies carrying the Bradbury Press imprint are the earliest issues of such titles.
