About Brockhampton Press
Brockhampton Press was a Leicester children's publisher, active in children's books from about 1940, best known as the original publisher of Enid Blyton's Secret Seven series.
Brockhampton issued the first editions of all fifteen Secret Seven books, from The Secret Seven in 1949 to Fun for the Secret Seven in 1963, along with the two earlier Peter and Janet stories, At Seaside Cottage (1947) and Secret of the Old Mill (1948). The original Secret Seven illustrators were George Brook, Bruno Kay and Burgess Sharrocks. It also published many other Blyton story collections.
Its wider list included many of W. E. Johns's Biggles titles, Jane Pilgrim's Blackberry Farm books, Elinor Lyon's Ian and Sovra series, Will Scott's Cherry books, children's books by Nigel Tranter and the Asterix comic books. In the 1990s the name appeared on non-fiction series such as the Brockhampton Library and Brockhampton Reference, and on military history titles.
The name has since passed to the Hodder group and is now described as an imprint of Hodder Headline.
