About Charnwood
Charnwood is a large-print imprint of Ulverscroft, the large-print publisher based in Anstey, Leicestershire, which has issued large-print editions since 1964.
Charnwood is one of the imprints listed on Ulverscroft's own website, alongside ISIS, Linford Romance, Linford Western, Magna Large Print and Soundings. Both names are local: Ulverscroft is a small parish in the Charnwood district of Leicestershire. In 1972 the company launched the Ulverscroft Foundation, which gives money and support to visually impaired people and organisations.
Open Library records show Charnwood titles as large-print hardbacks under the Ulverscroft Large Print name, labelled "Charnwood Library". Examples include Diana Norman's Blood Royal, a novel first listed in 1998 whose 480-page Charnwood edition appeared in January 1999, and Linda Grant's Still Here, issued as a Charnwood large-print hardback in January 2003.
Ulverscroft is still trading from The Green, Bradgate Road, Anstey, and Charnwood remains on its list of imprints.
