About Harper Voyager
Harper Voyager is HarperCollins's worldwide science fiction and fantasy imprint, formed when the company's British Voyager list and its American Eos list were brought under one name from January 2011.
The British list inherited titles from Collins's Grafton Books and earlier imprints. HarperCollins also acquired the publishing rights to J. R. R. Tolkien in 1990 through Unwin Hyman, the former George Allen & Unwin. Jane Johnson, who edited the Tolkien list at George Allen & Unwin from 1984 to 1992, is a publishing director at HarperCollins working on Voyager; authors on that list include George R. R. Martin, Raymond E. Feist, Robin Hobb and Mark Lawrence.
In the United States, HarperCollins published genre fiction as Eos, which came to it with Avon in 1999. At Aussiecon 4 in Melbourne in September 2010 it announced that Eos would become HarperVoyager from 1 January 2011, matching the name of its genre lists in Britain, Australia and New Zealand and making it easier to buy world English-language rights. Diana Gill led the US list, Emma Coode the UK list and Stephanie Smith the Australian list, and Karen Azinger and David Wellington (writing as David Chandler) were the first two authors expected under the combined imprint.
HarperCollins is a subsidiary of News Corp.
