About HarperCollins Children's
HarperCollins Children's Books is the British children's publishing division of HarperCollins UK, whose list includes Paddington, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Tiger Who Came to Tea and David Walliams's Gangsta Granny.
Its parent was created in 1989, when News Corp merged the New York house Harper & Row with William Collins, Sons, which the schoolmaster William Collins had founded in Glasgow in 1819. Collins had been the British Commonwealth publisher of the Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew and Dr. Seuss, and HarperCollins went on to hold Dr. Seuss's international rights.
Its website also carries a Harper Fire list. Authors it names on its current list include Michael Bond, Michael Morpurgo, Oliver Jeffers, Michael Rosen, Diana Wynne Jones, Alice Oseman, Hannah Gold and Lincoln Peirce, creator of Big Nate; it also handles Brambly Hedge and Bing. HarperCollins published the first edition of Gangsta Granny, illustrated by Tony Ross, on 27 October 2011, and Derek Landy's Skulduggery Pleasant series from 2007, including Last Stand of Dead Men on 29 August 2013.
HarperCollins Children's Books remains part of HarperCollins, a subsidiary of News Corp with headquarters in London and New York.
