About Head of Zeus

Head of Zeus is a London independent publisher of genre fiction, narrative non-fiction and children's books, founded in 2012 by the publishing veteran Anthony Cheetham and owned by Bloomsbury since 2021. Wikidata records its inception as 3 January 2012. Cheetham had earlier co-founded the Orion Publishing Group in 1991.

The list grew around commercial and genre authors. Bloomsbury's announcement of the purchase named Dan Jones, Cixin Liu, Victoria Hislop, Lesley Thomson and Elodie Harper among its writers; Cixin Liu's Three-Body trilogy was then being adapted for the screen by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, and Harper's The Wolf Den (2021) reached number 5 on The Times bestseller list.

Bloomsbury completed the acquisition on 2 June 2021, valuing the company at £8.45 million including existing loans. In the year to 31 December 2020 Head of Zeus had revenue of £8.6 million and pre-tax profit of £0.3 million. It now runs as an independent imprint inside Bloomsbury's Consumer division.

Because the firm only began in 2012, any Head of Zeus edition of an older book is a later reissue, not a first edition.
