About Earth's Children hexalogy
Earth's Children is a series of six historical novels by Jean M. Auel following a young woman named Ayla in prehistoric times. The first book, The Clan of the Cave Bear, was published in hardback by Crown in the United States in 1980, and Crown also issued The Valley of Horses in 1982. The series continued with The Mammoth Hunters (1985), The Plains of Passage (1990) and The Shelters of Stone (2002), and ended with The Land of Painted Caves, published by Crown in the US and Hodder & Stoughton in the UK on 29 March 2011. By 2025 the series had sold 48 million copies worldwide.
