About Hachette Books
Hachette Books is a New York general-interest imprint of Hachette Book Group, publishing mainly adult non-fiction alongside some fiction, created in 2014 from the adult list of Disney's Hyperion. Hyperion was set up at Disney in the early 1990s by Robert S. Miller under chief executive Michael Eisner (sources give both 1990 and 1991), and its successes included Tim Allen's Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man (1994), Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Randy Pausch's The Last Lecture and Michael J. Fox's Always Looking Up.
On 28 June 2013 Hachette Book Group, already Hyperion's distributor, agreed to buy more than 1,000 Hyperion adult backlist titles. Disney kept its media tie-ins, such as the Castle books, and its children's imprints, Disney and Disney-Hyperion, were not part of the sale. In March 2014 the list was renamed Hachette Books, with Mauro DiPreta as publisher.
In a 2018 reorganisation Hachette Books moved into Hachette Book Group's Perseus Books division and absorbed Da Capo Press. Its later first editions include Tom Wright and Bradley Hope's Billion Dollar Whale (18 September 2018). Hachette Book Group is a division of the French publisher Hachette Livre.
