About Portfolio

Portfolio is a business and non-fiction imprint of Penguin Random House, founded in 2001 by Adrian Zackheim within Penguin Group (USA).

Zackheim joined Penguin in September 2001 after seven years at HarperCollins, and in 2003 he also launched the conservative imprint Sentinel. Portfolio publishes on technology, economics, entrepreneurship, biography and investigative journalism, and describes itself as non-fiction publishing for ambitious people.

Its best-known titles include Simon Sinek's Start with Why, Leaders Eat Last and The Infinite Game, Ryan Holiday's The Obstacle Is the Way, Sophia Amoruso's #Girlboss, Stanley McChrystal's Team of Teams, Seth Godin's This Is Marketing, Scott Galloway's The Four, Emily Chang's Brotopia and Ryder Carroll's The Bullet Journal Method. Other current authors include Morgan Housel, Cal Newport, Annie Duke, Nir Eyal, Katy Milkman and Ethan Mollick.

In 2010 Penguin extended the brand to Britain as Portfolio UK. Zackheim remains the imprint's president and publisher.

We have not yet written the guide to Portfolio's first-edition conventions. Until we do, check each book's own page: we list its points where we know them. Know how Portfolio marked its firsts? Tell us.
