About Dragonriders of Pern
Dragonriders of Pern is a science fantasy series created by Anne McCaffrey, set on the colony world of Pern, where riders bonded telepathically to fire-breathing dragons fight the Thread that falls from the Red Star. It began with Dragonflight, a Ballantine Books paperback original of July 1968 assembled from the novellas Weyr Search and Dragonrider, which won the Hugo and Nebula awards respectively and made McCaffrey the first woman to win either. The series comprises 24 novels and two story collections published between 1968 and 2018. Her son Todd McCaffrey wrote or co-wrote later volumes, and Gigi McCaffrey wrote Dragon's Code (2018).
