Machineries of Empire is a space opera trilogy by Yoon Ha Lee, set in the Hexarchate, an empire whose weapons and technology only work while its people keep to an official calendar. There are 3 novels, published from 2016 to 2018, all first issued by Solaris Books: Ninefox Gambit, Raven Stratagem and Revenant Gun. Ninefox Gambit won the Locus Award for Best First Novel, and the trilogy was a Hugo finalist for Best Series in 2019. Hexarchate Stories (2019), a companion collection that includes the sequel novella Glass Cannon, is not counted in the three.
