About Mythago Wood series
The Mythago Wood series, also known as the Ryhope Wood cycle, is a group of fantasy books by the British writer Robert Holdstock (1948 to 2009) set in and around Ryhope Wood. It runs to seven books, from Mythago Wood in 1984 to Avilion in 2009; The Bone Forest (1991) combines a novella with short stories, and Merlin's Wood (1994) pairs a novel with two stories. Mythago Wood first appeared as a novella in the September 1981 issue of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction before Victor Gollancz published the full novel in London in 1984, and it won the BSFA Award for best novel and the 1985 World Fantasy Award. First editions of later books came from Gollancz (Lavondyss), Grafton (The Bone Forest), HarperCollins (The Hollowing, Merlin's Wood) and Roc in the United States (Gate of Ivory, Gate of Horn).
