About World of Tiers
World of Tiers is a science fiction series by the American author Philip José Farmer about artificial pocket universes made by godlike Lords and linked by gates, chief among them a planet built as a stepped tower of tiers. There are 6 novels in the main sequence, published from 1965 to 1993 and following Robert Wolff and then the Earthborn adventurer Kickaha. Ace Books published the first five, from The Maker of Universes (1965) to The Lavalite World (1977); More Than Fire first appeared in French in March 1993, six months before its American Tor edition. Red Orc's Rage (Tor, 1991) is only loosely linked, with none of the main characters appearing directly, and is not counted.
